Julia is a costume designer based out of Toronto, Ontario who has been working in theatre for the past 16 years. She began her career as a dresser and seamstress, and was able to design her first professional show in 2015 with Drayton Entertainment. She has also spent five seasons with the Stratford Festival as a Design Assistant and Associate Designer, gaining valuable mentorship and hands on learning while working among some of the country’s most talented designers, directors, cutters, sewers, crafts-people, and performers.

While designing professionally since 2015, Julia began designing costumes while attending school at Queen’s University back in 2008. There she studied Drama and Art History, and designed many shows for local community and student lead theatre companies. After graduation Julia continued her studies at Fanshawe College, taking Fashion Design, fallowed by a Technical Costume Studies post-graduate program. While attending Fanshawe Julia worked in summer stock theatre and fringe shows, using her new skills right away.

In addition to working on various theatrical production in Toronto and across southern Ontario, Julia has also been working in the film and television industry for the last 5 years. Notable productions include “Reacher” and “Starfleet Academy”. Here she has been able to continue to learn new skills and grow as a costumer.
